Ric Zweig
Singer/Songwriter Ric Zweig is a special gem in the mix of today’s indie artists. He performs and sings with a level of passion that certainly showcase the amount of love Zweig has for his music and entertaining the masses. Check out this special interview with our Webzine that we completed with the indie artist as he explains his goal with music and entertaining his fans. Enjoy!
Isaac: Let’s get started with this interview. When and how did you first become interested in music? How long have you been playing music?
Ric: When I was a small child, my dad would play Mahalia Jackson’s gospel records. I knew, even then, something was going on. I only started playing 7 years ago after leaving a career of being a criminal ct. judge in Miami, Fl.
Isaac: Who would you say are your biggest musical influences and why?
Ric: Van Morrison, Dylan & Bobby Womack, because they are each consummate songwriters with great attention to lyrical content.
Isaac: What has been the greatest highpoint in your career so far?
Ric: Finally receiving, just recently, high praise from the critics. (Skope, Music Emissions & Indie Music Digest).
Isaac: What has been the greatest disappointment in your career so far? What did you learn from that experience?
Ric: My music career is devoid of disappointment, but in life there's much to be said for polite persistence.
Isaac: What draws you to want to play the type of music that you do?
Ric: Quiet reflection on where we are, where we've been, and where we're going.
Isaac: What do you feel it takes to play this type of music that you play?
Ric: Patience, persistence, and practice.
Isaac: What do you think you will create that will make your performances and who you are stand out in the music industry?
Ric: Total unique originality with little concern for marketability or fads.
Isaac: If you had the opportunity to do one cover, what cover would you do and why? How would you put your own spin on this cover?
Ric: Dylan's "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" because we're all doing it. I'm not sure, but it would come.
Isaac: What does it take to be a good songwriter?
Ric: There is simply no substitute for life experience. You can't write if there's
nothing to write about.
Isaac: Amen!
Isaac: How difficult is it to juggle music, family and work obligation, and life in general? Explain.
Ric: Not difficult at all. Music is our escape; it's what brings us together - it's fun.
Isaac: What is your definition of being an Indie artist/band?
Ric: Be original, don't copy or imitate. Search and find your own unique sound. I hate it when somebody says, "Who do you sound like"? The answer is Ric Zweig sounds like Ric
Zweig.
Isaac: That is the perfect answer.
Isaac: Where can fans access your music online?
Ric: Please go to our website, www.riczweig.com to listen. www.Amazon.com has Ric Zweig downloads. CD Baby, Rhapsody, Napster, etc, have CDs for sale. I donate 5 bucks, for every CD sold, to the American Cancer Society.
Isaac: In five years…….
Ric: In 5 years, I want to be a better singer, songwriter and guitarist and having even more fun than now, if that's even possible.
