BARDO

BARDO

Sonicbids

Front woman Leslie King of BARDO had a vision for a band that would turned heads when she decided on the creation of the group. With a ton of experience from living and working in the Los Angeles scene as a singer/songwriter, King wanted to explore other avenues of music; the rock arena. What started off as pure fun eventually turn into a “powerful platform for King both as a performer and songwriter” (Bardo's MySpace Bio, 2010). In this spotlight with King, she expounds on the music of BARDO and what she is aiming for musically with the group.

Isaac: Let’s get started with this interview. I wanted to thank you for this second interview with our Webzine. How has 2010 been for you so far?

Bardo: 2010 has been a busy year so far Isaac. But great fun. Spent most of the year in the studio, it's good to be out and about and starting to perform again.

Isaac: Out of all of your influences, who would you enjoy working with and why?

Bardo: Probably The Pretenders. I love the single they came out with last year. I so admire that after all these years they can still write a great hit song like that.

Isaac: What can you say has been the biggest accomplishment so far with your music career?

Bardo: Hmmm. That's a difficult one. I know everybody loves their latest project the best, but I am so proud of this new EP. Artistically I think it's the best work I've ever done.

Isaac: Are you happy with were you are at with your music career at the moment?

Bardo: I am. We are just getting out of the gate with BARDO. I'm really looking forward to the response we get when it hits the market.

Isaac: What draws you to want to play the type of music that you do?

Bardo: I think after being in the singer/songwriter scene for a long time I wanted a change. I was done spilling my guts and sharing my heart wrenching sorrow. I basically got bored with myself and decided it was time to lighten up and have some fun.

Isaac: I love it!!

BARDO

Isaac: What do you feel it takes to play this type of music that you play?

Bardo: I think it takes guts. You can't hold back for a second or it doesn't work. You have to go for it. That's why I like it!

Isaac: How do you handle people in the music industry who promise you things but do not deliver?

Bardo: Oh I've been in the business long enough, I know better than to have expectations. It gets to the point where you just ignore the promises and take the occasional win.

Isaac: So true!

Isaac: If you had the opportunity to do one cover, what cover would you do and why? How would you put your own spin on this cover?

Bardo: We are doing a Kaiser Chiefs song right now, "Every Day I Love You Less And Less". It's one of those songs I wish I wrote. But I always thought it would be fun to do a classic rock song like Free Bird and punk it up.

Isaac: What does it take to be a good songwriter?

Bardo: Patience, practice, and humility.

BARDO

Isaac: How difficult is it to juggle music, family and work obligation, and life in general? Explain.

Bardo: Very very very hard Isaac. You have to be a super organized and you have to accept the fact that not it's never really going to be perfectly balanced.

Isaac: What is your definition of being an Indie artist/band?

Bardo: Well, we don't have a record company telling us what to or paying for us to do it.

Isaac: Where can fans access your music online?

Bardo: Our website - www.bardoband.com.

Isaac: 2011 will be…….

Bardo: Fabulously fun I hope.
